Hire Profit Ability was founded by Michelle Joyce

Since 2021 we have been helping businesses to drive growth, increase profit, create value and further build confidence in decision making.

After 15 years working in Multi-national environments, primarily with General Electric (GE) Michelle decided to change directions with her career. She wanted to bring her strategic, analytical, and results-driven expertise to help smaller businesses, startups and growth companies. Her goal is simple – to help business owners improve cash flow, boost profitability, and feel more confident about their financial decisions.

Michelle originates from New York and attended Northeastern University in Boston (a 5 year cooperative education program which involved three 6-month job placements). She graduated with an offer to join General Electric’s (GE) Financial Management Program (FMP).

She’s worked across all regions, time zones, teams and cultures. Michelle moved around in the US and lived in New York, Boston & Milwaukee and also around Europe and lived in Perugia, London, Frankfurt, Florence, Belfast and finally settling in Galway in the west of Ireland.

Know what problem you’re trying to solve

My first day at GE my mentor told me that my goal should be to eliminate the need for my own job. This resonated with me and fundamentally shifted my approach to my career. Most importantly I learned to question what is the ultimate goal. You need to stay focused on that and work backwards from there to ensure that stakeholders have all the information that they need, eliminate the processes & steps not required.

You will often find me outdoors – whether it is running, cycling, camping, gardening. Or I might be off traveling and can usually be found somewhere near the water. On those rainy days, I may be inside reading a good book or getting in touch with my artistic side with painting or photography. My favorite pastime is making my children laugh.
